Screening for Cancer in Unprovoked Venous Thromboembolism

 People can have many reasons to clot more than normal and develop those clots in their legs s0ome of which may travel to the lung as pulmonary emboli which is very serious, The legs is not the only place veins can abnormally clots. Reasons are either acquired- such as some mucin producing cancer as well as all cancers, prolonged immobilization and more or inherited abnormalities in the cascade of clotting factors that   otherwise is in balance .  There are more than a few  physicians that feel an unexplained clot – including after testing for inherited diseases of the clotting system- must be evaluated by  abdominal or pelvic or even some do chest CT or other scans to find hidden or occult cancer. This study puts to rest what most Oncologists have felt as well as Hematologists
